Live Music: Diamond Rio

Diamond Rio are a celebrated country band that made history right out of the gate. Signed to Arista Nashville in 1991, they debuted with “Meet in the Middle,” which made them the first band ever to send a debut single to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The group evolved from the Tennessee River Boys, a band that performed at the former Opryland theme park.

They went on to a long string of hits and accolades. The band charted more than 30 singles and notched four additional No. 1s — “How Your Love Makes Me Feel,” “One More Day,” “Beautiful Mess,” and “I Believe” — and has won four Group of the Year awards from the CMA and one Grammy. They’re also known for their vocal harmonies and for playing every note on their records themselves rather than using session musicians.
