Saturday Morning Caffeine Cruise – 5/17/2025 – TOUR DE CARLOS!!!

This week we’ll be nefariously co-opting another event called the “Tour De Carl”! They’ve got free beer and bikes, so hey, why not? We’ll convent at Better Half for some wakeup caffeine and a libation or two, then we’ll plan to meet them at their second stop, which is at the historic Scholz Garden. From there we’ll hit the Capitol with them for a photo op, then if we’re still feeling it we’ll keep riding on over to Deep Eddy Cabaret. If we AREN’T Feeling it, then we’ll probably skip the Cabaret and head directly to Deep Eddy Pool, for swimming or otherwise.

Start: Better Half Coffee and Cocktails – 406 Walsh St
Wheels down: 11:30am
Mid: The Historic Scholz Garden – 1607 San Jacinto Blvd
End: Deep Eddy Pool – 401 Deep Eddy Ave
Gravel: Possibly Light gravel, but nothing road bikes can’t handle
Bring: Sunscreen, lights, locks, ID, and money for snacks/drinks.
Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don’t block intersections. We are nice to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. LISTEN TO the volunteers helping to lead the ride. They are some nice folks and have your best interest in mind.

REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control, nor do we desire to, every rider’s behavior. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider’s responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.
