Live Music: Cactus Lee

Cactus Lee is the musical project of Austin singer-songwriter Kevin Dehan, whose dreamy blend of country, folk, Americana, and indie rock has made him one of the city’s most distinctive emerging artists.

Since launching the project in 2019, Dehan has earned widespread acclaim for his prolific songwriting, intimate recordings, and unmistakably Texas sound.

His music draws inspiration from classic songwriters such as Townes Van Zandt, John Prine, Tom T. Hall, and Gene Clark, while incorporating a lo-fi, psychedelic warmth that feels both timeless and contemporary.

Although Cactus Lee began as a solo recording project, Dehan now performs with a rotating band of accomplished Austin musicians. His songs paint vivid portraits of small-town Texas, family, love, loss, and life on the road, delivered with understated wit and rich storytelling.
