Live Music: Cotton Clifton

Aug 7, 2026
10:00 pm - 12:00 am

Clifton blends honky-tonk, alt-country, Americana, Gulf Coast folk, Southern rock, and blues. His songs feature weathered vocals, expressive Telecaster guitar work, and storytelling influenced by artists like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Rather than chasing modern country trends, his music leans into classic songwriting and road-tested authenticity.

Originally from Louisiana, Clifton spent more than a decade in Jackson, Tennessee, where he became known as the lead guitarist for alt-country artist The Kernal and fronted his own band, Cotton Clifton & The Pickers.

He later relocated to Nashville, building his solo career before becoming active in the Austin music scene.

The White Horse East Austin Live Music Honky Tonk features a full-service bar, outdoor patio and smoking area & live music seven days a week.
