Live Music: Tuskola

Tuskola is the Austin-based musical project of singer-songwriter Ryan Brewer, whose introspective songwriting blends slowcore, indie folk, Midwest emo, and subtle country influences into a deeply personal Americana sound.

Named after the small refinery town of Tuscola, Illinois—where his family has roots—the project explores themes of family history, identity, uncertainty, and the search for meaning.

Brewer began writing and touring as a teenager with the slowcore band Good Night & Good Morning in 2007 before launching Tuskola as a vehicle for his own reflective, emotionally rich songwriting.

Rather than relying on traditional country arrangements, Tuskola creates spacious, atmospheric songs built around understated melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and intimate performances.

His music draws from artists in the indie and Americana worlds while maintaining a distinctly Texas perspective.
